Denver Broncos rookie wide receiver Demaryius Thomas(notes) is expected to make his NFL debut Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.
Thomas has been sidelined for the entire preseason and the opening game with a foot problem.
"I think he's had two good days of nfl jerseys
practice," coach Josh McDaniels said. "As long as everything goes the way we hope it goes today, I think he'll be ready to roll."
Thomas had foot surgery before the NFL draft, where the Broncos drafted him 22nd overall.
Then, he reinjured his foot.
"We look forward to him playing on Sunday," McDaniels said.
Minnesota Vikings right tackle Phil Loadholt(notes) has been fined $10,000 by the NFL for two plays in the team’s season-opening loss at New Orleans.
Loadholt was docked for a facemask penalty in the second quarter when he grabbed the facemask of Saints linebacker Marvin Mitchell, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
Then, after sliding to left tackle in the fourth quarter to take the place of Bryant McKinnie(notes), Loadholt was caught again for a facemask infraction. There was no penalty called but the league doesn’t need a yellow flag to go after a player for a violation.
Tennessee Titans linebacker Stephen Tulloch(notes) was Saints jersey
fined $7,500 by the league office for his horse collar tackle last week.
And Denver Broncos defensive end Ryan McBean(notes) was fined $5,000 for a facemask penalty.
Houston Texans running back Arian Foster(notes) and cornerback Glover Quin(notes) were both fined $5,000 for unnecessary roughness.
Plus, New England Patriots safety Patrick Chung(notes) was fined $5,000 for a late hit.
It would have been a heck of a lot easier if Leroy Hill(notes) and Aqib Talib(notes) would have just gotten together on Sunday somewhere and watched games together.
The NFL is investigating whether Hill broke league rules by attending the Seattle Seahawks’ season-opening victory over the San Francisco 49ers. Hill was suspended by the NFL for the first game for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.
The same investigation is going on in Tampa Bay regarding Talib. Truly, it’s a little surprising that these franchises would not spell out to the players exactly what their suspensions meant – don’t come to the stadium after a week away from the practice facility.
“I didn't know. I went to the game and I thought I was fine. I was up in the stands, I didn't go on to the field or go in the locker room, nothing like that. I just went to the game to support my teammates," Hill told reporters Friday. "I didn't know it was illegal."
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said he was also unaware of San Diego Chargers jersey
the rule but someone in these organizations needs to be accountable for following protocol. Hill is expected to play Sunday and the NFL could resolve the matter next week. At the minimum, this will serve as a good example for players in the future.
