Penalty-prone Jets go back to ‘grade school’

The New York Jets have reacted to their penalty-filled 10-9 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
They were flagged 14 times for 125 yards, giving the Ravens six first downs.
Cornerback Antonio Cromartie(notes) was flagged four times.
So, the Jets have gone back to "grade school," according to Jets coach Rex Ryan.
Ten pushups were assessed for any penalty football jerseys

"With the number of penalties that we had, we just wanted to have something as a reminder - just not talk about it," defensive coordinator Mike Pettine said. "So they would give a little bit more thought to it."
Added Ryan: "I know it's an old high school trick, but sometimes those old high school tricks still work on this level."

“Is he going to be in the game?” Harbaugh said. “Darn, I still had my hopes up for that. He’s a premier pass rusher, got to account for him. Got to know where he’s at all times.”
As a rookie last year, Michael Oher(notes) shut down Odom after the veteran entered the game with a league-high eight sacks.
“He’s a good player,” Oher said. “He’s a proven player. You definitely got to come to play.”
Odom ended last season on injured reserve after tearing his Achilles’ tendon.
The Ravens don’t plan to change their offensive line configuration. Marshal Yanda(notes) will remain at right tackle and Chris Chester(notes) will start again at right guard.
Odom wasn’t especially effective in New Orleans Saints jersey
a loss to the New England Patriots last season, but he has the Ravens’ full respect.
“He’s a darn good football player,” Yanda said. “It looks like he’s back and healthy, so he’s a good pass rusher. He gets a bunch of sacks. We need to look out for him and do our best against him.”
